36 Mindful Questions to Build Self-Awareness

On the path to finding mindful awareness, self-reflection serves as a methodical and objective tool.

However, you must remember that such reflection should not occur only on the level of the brain. Rather, it should also be done on the level of senses, emotions, energies, and deeper consciousness.

To do this you will need mindful questions that help you go deeper within you. This blog contains 36 questions that will explore the hidden parts of yourself.

Immediate Environment

The outermost level of your existence is the immediate environment that surrounds you. Being mindful of this environment is part of building awareness and passing through emotional healing stages. Some of the mindfulness questions for this aspect are mentioned below.

  1. At this moment, what is happening in my immediate environment?
  2. What are people around me doing currently?
  3. How is the air flowing?
  4. How much light is there in this room? What are the sources of it?
  5. What objects are placed around me?
  6. What kind of energy can I feel in this room?

You can use the above self reflection questions while sitting in your room, office, or even a party.

Physical Body

Some very good books on mindfulness suggest that the best way to build conscious awareness is through one’s body. All you need to do is be aware of your physical senses. Below are some of the best mindful questions for this aspect.

  1. What is my physical body doing currently?
  2. What does my body want to do right now – run, sit, sleep, or anything else?
  3. In what areas of my body is there a sensation of pressure?
  4. Are any of my body parts feeling any pain? Where is this pain, and with what intensity?
  5. What are any other light sensations on my skin?
  6. How does my clothes feel on my skin?
  7. How exactly does the surrounding air feel on my body?

The above self awareness questions will help you build bodily awareness. You may even try a group mindfulness activity with these questions.

Inner Energy System

Further, when you go deeper within yourself, you will find an inner energy system. This system lies just below the body and contains the 7 Chakras. Some of the mindful questions to explore this system are mentioned below.

  1. How energies are flowing through the insides of my body?
  2. What does each chakra in my body feel at this moment?
  3. How does the inside of my stomach feel?
  4. What energies are there in my chest? Is there any blockage, pain, or anything else?
  5. Does my inner energy body produce any sensations in my outer body?
  6. How does my inner energy interact with outside energy?

While using the above mindfulness questions you can meditate in a safe and dark room to get the best benefits.

Immediate Emotions

Immediate emotions are generally those that lie on the surface of your subconscious mind. Understanding them will help you eliminate the immediate causes of feeling sad without reason. Some of the self reflection questions for these emotions are:

  1. What emotions am I feeling at this moment?
  2. Which immediate events of my life are linked to these emotions?
  3. In which part of my body are these emotions stored?
  4. What sensations do these emotions produce in my physical body?
  5. What does my body want to do to feel these emotions – cry, laugh, shiver, or hit at something?
  6. Do I feel these emotions often or are they just in this moment?

You may use writing while answering the above mindful reflection questions. Writing makes it easy to understand how to feel emotions fully.

Deeper Emotions

Once you have healed some parts of your outer subconscious mind, then you may dwell within the deeper emotions. The spiritual self reflection questions below will help you do that.

  1. Is this emotion in any way linked to my childhood? What all childhood events are linked to this emotion? How exactly did I feel in those moments?
  2. Did I feel this emotion when I was in my mother’s womb?
  3. Does anyone in my family have this same emotion? Did I absorb this emotion from them?
  4. Is any of my past life linked to this emotion? What kinds of emotions can I feel when I imagine my past life?
  5. What are the other major emotions I felt in my childhood, during my womb phase, and in my family members?

These deep self reflection questions for growth can even help you with advanced procedures of womb healing and ancestral healing techniques.

Consciousness

Beyond your body, mind, emotions, and energies, lies the deepest realm known as the consciousness. You can understand it as the soul, observer, or being within you. Some of the mindful questions for this aspect are mentioned below.

  1. Is there an observer within me? What is he doing right now?
  2. Can this observer see my body?
  3. Can this observer look at my surroundings?
  4. Can this observer look at my thoughts? What thoughts can it see?
  5. How does the presence of this observer feel?
  6. How exactly does this awareness of its presence impact my energies?

The above mindfulness questions will help you build soul awareness and pass through the stages of the spiritual journey.

All in All

The mindful questions for self-reflection will help you gain the deepest insights into yourself. They will help you with healing, understanding your emotions, and building mindfulness. All you need to do is find a pen, paper, and a quiet, comfortable spot.
